The Thing?: 2631
N Johnson Rd, Dragoon, AZ - What could The Thing be? Arizona is sandwiched
between New Mexico where the world's first nuclear bomb explosion took
place, and Nevada which was the site of many nuclear bomb tests in the
50's.
World's Crookedest Street - Burlington Iowa residents maintain that their
street, more than 100 years old, is more crooked than the popular Lombard
Street in San Francisco
City of North Pole Alaska
- In 1944, bon Davis homesteaded this area. Dahl and Gaske Development
Company later bought the Davis Homestead, subdivided it and named it North
Pole. The name was selected to attract the toy industry to manufacture
articles made in "North Pole". This endeavor failed to blossom,
but North Pole has continued to grow.

The
World's Largest Ball of Sisal Twine - Cawker City - Frank Stoeber
started this ball of twine on his farm in 1953. By 1957 it weighed 5,000
pounds, stood 8 feet high, and had 1,175,180 feet of twine on it. Stoeber
gave the ball to Cawker City in 1961 before his death in 1974.
Iowa
State Fair - since 1854 features this event offers the country's largest
state fair foods department (approx. 900 classes). The fair starts about
3 weeks before Labor Day
